Herd Codes are used to provide a unique herd number.

DHI Field Service Providers and industry collaborators should assign herd codes from state/county and herd number lists allocated by National DHIA in order to prevent duplication among and across providers and collaborators. Herds should be assigned herd codes designating the state/country location where the herd is operating.
